-Summary-
The Gray and Fox squirrels of Silvam are at war. The objective? Capturing a walnut grove, which has been fought over for many years. Walnuts are prized as both currency and food, and are in high demand by all of Squirrelkind. Meanwhile, the ground squirrels, red squirrels, and groundhogs of Rootside have stayed painstakingly neutral, refusing to get caught in the territorial conflict. Will the strategic Grays, or the Fox warlords capture the grove? Will the motley inhabitants of Rootside join the fray? No matter the outcome, the Grove Wars of Silvam will be known by every Sciuridae who has ever twitched their tail.
Folia - The Gray kingdom
The Gray squirrels are ruled by a Queen and her court, and are known for their beautiful dreys and strategic thinking, they have produced plentiful great scholars and thinkers, and have won many wars by careful planning. Their kingdom consists of many dreys built into an old orchard. They keep to themselves when they can.
Vulpine Keep - The Fox kingdom
The fox squirrels are ruled by a Warlord, who takes the title Foxblood before his name. They are known to be barbaric and reckless, however their large size and overwhelming tactics ensure their success. Their kingdom is made of one large drey in a giant hollow oak.
Rootside -
Rootside acts as the home of many species of Sciuridae, primarily ground squirrels and Groundhogs, and the occasional red squirrel. Rootside is a major marketplace for squirrelkind, however, the wealthier kingdoms of Vulpine and Folia consider Rootside to be beneath them. (both literally and figuratively) Rootside usually takes a Groundhog as their leader.
~Additional information and terms~
-Rootside is underground, as the name suggests.
Squirrelkind calls above ground Greenside.
-Rootbound is used as a derogatory term for Sciuridae who have only lived underground in Rootside, as well as dirtpelt, which is used more widely.
-Male squirrels are called boars, and females sows. Young are called kits or kittens.
-The gray squirrels that occupy this role play are Eastern Grey squirrels, I know there are a whole bunch more of ‘gray squirrels’ but, to keep things simple, when a gray squirrel is mentioned remember that it’s an Eastern. If you wish to make another kind of gray squirrel, be sure to specify.
-Red squirrels are more rare than not in this roleplay, they act as traveling merchants due to their small numbers.
Make as many characters as you want, just ensure that you can keep track of them all!
