I mean, a cross between red squirrels and fox squirrels would be scientifically impossible.
Maybe he could just have ear tufts for the heck of it?
Also, while researching, I learned American red squirrels aren’t very red and don’t have the huge ear tufts like European ones! I have to go fix my little Smithie, then.

Also, I can’t read Warriors anymore now that I understand cat genetics because I don’t care how unrealistic the personalities or intelligence or family structures are, actually, I like the fantasy, but if its genetically impossible, I cannot reas it.

I know it isn’t impossible genetically… but the amount of orange female cats in those books gives me a tic. Orange girls are rare, Warriors Writers!

It seems as if warriors ripped off it, but made it better.
Anyway, in that book, tortoiseshell males are just as common as tortoiseshell females.
The red females doesn’t bother me too much. What bothers me is Firestar is red and Sandstorm is cream (red with a dilution) so their daughters HAVE to be red or cream. And yet, Leafpool is somehow brown!
I have seen some art of leafpool where she is cream though. That’s good.

Sorry I meant there is a book that is like the Warrior cat books but was written in the 90s, which makes me wonder if those books were based off it.

Role/rank: He is a high ranking shopkeeper who supplies the King and Queen with any mushrooms grown in the nearby lands, plus a few from afar.

Kingdom and species:
fox squirrel. Vulpine Keep.

Physical description: wiry and well preened. Dark red fur, white belly. Amber eyes. Big ears.
Wears a dried mushroom hat most of the time.

Personality: talkative, but he speaks in riddles sometimes. Seems to know everything about anything. Talks of his dreams of a peaceful future. He only does what is needed of him. Reveals little about his past.

Backstory (optional): says he’s from a far away kingdom but now lives in Vulpine. He lives on a lower section of a great big pine tree within a gnarly hollow filled with various mushrooms.
