The Gun Thread

Anyone know good companies who make owb holsters that won't scuff my Kimber micro 9 but with a paddle not a belt attachment? I'm to the point im gonna go buy a thigh holster and go Laura Croft on this B in a min 🙄

Any holster that you're practicing as much as you should be with will eventually scuff up your guns. But Alien Gear makes a paddle mount for their holsters and they make holsters for about every gun. Pretty good quality for the price

I have read that kydex will scuff faster, but will wear smaller areas, and leather will take longer but will wear larger areas.

Just reorient your thoughts to view scuffs as meaning you have trained well and you, and those around you, are safer for it.

That makes sense. Kydex holsters normally only make contact on a small part of a guns surface, usually the trigger guard, but some like the MFT Minimalist make contact along the slide as well.

Leather tends to cause excessive wear on the slide, as there is more freedom of movement for the gun, even with retention straps.

Got myself new "holder" no longer leaving my house unless strapped

Yall might already be aware but starting Jan 1st, you no longer have to pay the $200 tax stamp for suppressors. I just ordered another one on silencershop, and they'll wait to ship until Jan.

EVERYONE should own a 22lr suppressor IMO. They are practically silent with subsonic ammo, sounds like a dry fire. I would recommend stainless and/or titanium over aluminum too...

On a side note. Got my first fox squirrel kill a couple weeks ago. They tasted great in a gumbo my uncle cooked...

Excellent! Nice shooting! Hunting fox squirrels is one of the things I miss most about Ohio. Pain in the butt to skin, but a lot more meat for the trouble compared to a red squirrel. But the trade off is now getting to hunt grouse so it works out in the end. It looks like your aim is good enough to probably brain shoot them, which I recommend. I find with a body shot squirrel, its all too easy for them to skitter into a hole never to be seen again before they exsanguinate. Gut wrenching feeling when that happens.

And hard agree about the suppressor. Love hunting with my suppressed 10/22. I try to always have it handy in the woods.

Thanks, I had a blast. And they tasted so good. It's definitely got me considering hunting some of my local grey squirrels.

Yeah, I was surprised when I shot the little one. He fell and made it about 10yds before expiring. Luckily is was not thick. Headshots would definitely work better...
