Are there actually different ways to load guns??
Several.
The most popular beginner rifles and shotguns are called "break open' (or crack barrel).
A lever unlocks the 'action' and the barrel 'breaks' from the stock and action on a hinge to eject the shell so you can load another. Some, especially shotguns have 'double barrels'.

Repeaters come in 'Lever action' (think cowboy rifles)

Of course "semi auto' implies the existence of "full auto" (aka Machine guns) but those are Mostly non-civillian so they are outside this explaination.
OKAY, This is a VERY simplified explaination and the exceptions would fill a library.

I have a few different guns but my favourites are the 1911 models.

Here’s my Colt Commander .45 ACP:

I have a Series 90, Colt Defender .45 that I’ve owned for about 27 years & regularly carry as my EDC. 1911 all the way every day! My next upgrade I hope to get is a 1911 in 10mm.

Since the meme I wanted to post would probably get me put in timeout I'll post this one.

I know that exact feeling & still love to smell that wonderful smell. Someone please make a candle with that smell, every real man would have to buy a truckload! :thumbsup
