The Gun Thread

ATF just approved my suppressor application. My original plan was to trick out my .308 AR-10 for it, but now I think I want a .300 Blackout pistol.

Anyone got one?
I built one. Aero precision receivers, 10.5" barrel, timney trigger, and a folding SBA3 brace. I haven't shot it in a couple years :(, but it was pretty quiet with subs through my 9 mil can.

If you're going to be shooting subsonic, 300blk is a better choice because the barrels have faster twist rates than 308 to help stabilize the heavier rounds, plus they cycle good with both supers and subs.

I just ordered a silencerco hybrid 46, so looking forward to trying it with my 300blk. Then next year, I want to load some 425 grain maker rexs for my 450 bushmaster and try to get a deer with it suppressed subsonic.

It should be capable of taking a deer. I currently deer hunt with a .308 airgun that will shoot a 100 grain hollowpoint bullet at 920fps for several shots on an air charge. It will cleanly kill a Florida-sized whitetail out to 75 yards on a lung shot. A .300 Blackout or .308 Win subsonics are each carrying over twice the energy as the .308 airgun. Should kill fine so long as the bullet is designed to expand at low velocities. Needs a very light jacket. My airgun rounds expand great but that’s because they’re nearly pure lead. They’ll mushroom well at velocities even as low as the 700sfps.

I have some Maker Rex's for 300blk. Might give them a try for deer. There's a guy on YouTube with a 458 socom shooting 570gr fracturing rounds and it absolutely hammers deer. He even shoots them out to 400yds which is nuts, like 20ft of drop, lol.

I've watched tons of ballistic gel tests on YT and the Maker Rexs seem to perform extremely well. They are designed for shooting subsonic. They're solid copper and expand well at low velocities.

Here's the guy on YT shooting deer with the 458... (graphic video warning)
