And a knife does not have to have a very long blade to be deadly.

A surgeon once told me that he could reach any part of the human body in 5 seconds with a scalpel. The blade on a scalpel is about 1/2" long.

And as I used to say when I co-taught the NRA personal protection class, "Box cutters changed the course of history."

So far so good. I’m going to take the Giessele out of my .308 and put it in the Blackout. The .308 needs some tweaking. When I shoot supersonics through the .308 the extra pressure from the suppressor blows crud from the shot cycle in my face. That’s a miserable way to shoot.

So the .308 can sit a while so I can enjoy the Blackout.

I used to think off-set sites were tacticool-fake. But this being my first AR pistol, I noticed how easy and convenient it was to cock it 45° and aim with it that way. So I added an off-set red dot and now I see the appeal. I have the advantage of a thermal but also the practicality of a red dot and both are convenient to aim and fire with.

I moved the Giessele from my LR-.308 to the Blackout. I’m going to call this build done. With the suppressor on it, it cycles subsonics fine. Supers aren’t fun because like the .308, I get caustic gas and particles in my face from the blowback. I’m going to just run subs in this gun except for in a real emergency.

I’m close to 100 rounds through it so far.

Red dot is a nice addition to thermal for sure. Thermal only can be a pain at times (when not shooting critters). I just got my DNT thermnight back on my suppressed 22lr and my dad killed a coon with it a couple nights ago. Shot him at 145yds at 9pm and all you could hear was the "thud"....
