I want to get a fan for my coop, but there is no power near it. I want a fan because moving air keeps the mosquitoes down as well as help cool the chickens. We have not been as hot as some of you folks--and boy do I feel for you-- but we are so muggy that misters are not ideal...that relies on evaporative cooling which doesn't do great in high humidity.
The unit I found that was one of the few with a battery (to keep working into the evening) is too big for my small coop, and my coop is not in a place that gets enough sunlight, even though this unit comes with a remote solar panel with a 15 foot cable. ( too many trees...i need way more cable!)
But I thought someone else might find it worth the price: about $70 plus $10 shipping. There were cheaper fans that have the solar panel integrated but they also have no battery. If that suits anyones situation, just search solar fans on
ebay.
This is a link for the one that is solar powered with a rechargable battery, and is the only one I saw with a solar panel remote from the fan unit (15ft) They claim it moves a lot of air each hour...678 cubic feet. They did not say ( that I saw) how long the fan will run off the battery, though.

In case you wonder: No, I am not associated with the seller or the manufacturer...I was hoping for an affordable solar option I could make work for me, but I know other folks have coops and tractors that are in the sun.
