The heavy rains killed my garden

Well, not all of my garden, but we had flash flooding for a week straight. We got over five inches of rain in two days at one point. After the first three days of nonstop rain, I noticed several of my plants turning yellow. I tried to put a tarp over the yellowing plants. Yesterday we had a few hours of sun, so I went out and half of my potato plants were flat and brown. My pea plants that had aphids are yellow and withered. My onions, garlic, and spinach are flattened and withered. :hit

My lettuce is wilted but looks like it might come back. The tomatoes are doing great, as are the pumpkin and watermelon. Peppers are yellowed but not withered.
So disappointed...

I worry about mine since we are getting daily rains.

Such a gardening downer. :hugs

Your onions may come through it. I would let things dry out and see what is done for. It gives you a little time to get ready to replant what you need to.

We have thunderstorms in the forecast for the next few days, then one day reprieve, then rain all weekend, so I don't know that the onions will pop back. Ugh.

Sorry.

I am so sorry. It's hard when things are finally established and growing well to take a hit like that. We had golf ball sized hail the first summer I had a garden, then a rabbit broke in and ate the plants I had managed to salvage. We have all been there. Nature can be cruel to our gardening efforts at times. I hope you haven't lost everything. If it was me, I'd probably cry, and then replant ASAP. Good luck. It's not too late. I haven't planted a single thing yet. You just have to look at what types of things have shorter growing seasons.

Thanks everyone. It won't be the first time, nor the last, I expect. Doesn't make it any less disappointing. My kids were so excited about the peas. They love fresh peas out of the garden.
We did dig around where the potato plants died, and the kids found about five tiny potatos. They were super excited about that.
