The hen sleeps in the nest

Hi everyone,

I thought that the night my hen went to her nest to sleep, it was because she has gone broody, but that did not happened because the came out in the morning and stayed out during the day, until night fall. She's been doing this since Saturday. She has laid over a dozen eggs, some we ate and the most I want to hatch.

Will this behavior ruin the eggs, as she is heating them during the night. What can I do to entice her into going broody. By the way, she selected the nest on her own, with the rooster. Meaning the nest was not imposed onto her.

Sounds like she's getting broody but is not fully into it yet. Give it a few more days, and no it wont' ruin the eggs, but only leave the # you want her to sit on and bring the others in.
