Added 2 more medium supers to each of the hives.

The Millers are starting to show up which means the Russian Olive bloom will be starting soon.

The Golden West hive is well ahead of the other two hives in working in their first medium super.

Our autumn olive bloom is just about done here.
I planted two this spring. One is blooming. I have not seen a bee on it yet. Of course they still have currant and cherry blossoms to work on.

I will have a bumper crop of tart cherries this year.

How do you keep the birds from getting them all?

Had a nice crop last year... got 6. The :ducbirds got the rest.
Bird netting

Unfortunately I have to take the top netting off in the fall to prevent snow damage.

Also good idea to keep those ruttin' bucks from rubbing and killing you trees. :thumbsup
Bird netting can be walked right through by deer. I banished the deer from this area a long time ago by putting up a 6'x2"x4" welded wire fence. When they started going after trees I had planted 20 years previously, I said enough was enough.

The bucks can jump a 6' fence easily but most of the does can't and the fawns can't. Without the does in here, the bucks lost interest quickly.

It's was early and eyes weren't clear, didn't notice it was netting. Here around the Blue Berry fields deer will actually push the livestock wire fencing for a weak spot and create a main entrance for all to have access. At one point the fence crossed an irrigation ditch and they came in under the fence, farmer said the damn deer were using scuba gear to get in. :lau
