The Incubator Thread

Awesome perfect hatch!!!
I've got two out and four piped externally...
Aweosme!! How many are there in total (eggs)??

I'm hoping my styrofoam incubator, that's at least ten years old and has been used multiple times, can handle 4 separate hatches this spring. I don't want any parts to give out on me after running for so long. I can't find any information on incubator life.

Probably because there is electronic things in it-----electronic things can tear up any second or can last for Many years----no way to put a life on them. Example---One of the brooders I am using was used by my Grandmother in the 1950's. I have used it alot----indoors and outdoors---I have seen it outside with icles hanging off the tarp cover with chicks inside warm and toasty. It has the same heater coil, the same wafer thermostat, the same cord, everything the same except for the regular light bulb that has to be changed once and a while. BUT, it could quit tomorrow.

If you are going to do some incubating, its Just a great Idea to have a spare---on stand by---just in case. I have bought several styrofoam models in the $10 to $25 range on craigslist, FB and/or Auctions. Good Luck!

Thank you for your response! Those seem like excellent prices for incubators. I am thinking of ordering some extra parts (like the wafer thermostat) to have on hand.

And that must be a very good quality and useful brooder.
