The Incubator Thread

yes it was reading 99.5 I went with the degree higher as you reccomended this time. But I did find a rather cool spot in the egg turner . Eggs have not been set yet,Should I wait until tomorrow when I can go to town after same aquarium thermometer as I had for first hatch?

12 hours of watching incubator(empty) temp fluctuating only slightly 100-101 with exception of 2 rows that are still 93-95 for temp, check had been done hourly to this point and gonna sleep tonight as I have drive tomorrow.

OK, I feel better that the built in was 99.5, yea go with 100.5. It moving 1/2 a degree back and forth is usually normal. I am not familiar with the model you have----I am wondering where the temp sensor picks up its reading??? Wondering if its up in the top----which would be warmer than down where the eggs are? Any wire/probe hanging from it? Your meat probe is showing cooler spots which means there is poor air circulation. When setting/checking out a incubator I like using a flatter thermometer so I can lay it right on the turner in different places to see whats happening. This is one I like and have several. http://incubatorwarehouse.com/incubator-thermometer-hygrometer.html But I also have the bigger ones from WalMarts like this http://www.walmart.com/ip/AcuRite-Digital-Humidity-and-Temperature-Monitor/16888914 . I know you probably do not want to deal with adding another fan or moving/modifying the one in it to get more even temp so just make notes of the areas that are low and either do not set in those area's or once a day move the eggs around in the incubatpr so the ones in the cooler spots get moved towards and into the warmer spots.

it is on a plastic card that sits right on top if about a 4"area of eggs but hard to get it everywhere as it's wired and they are short .I have a little giant deluxe, I don't set enough eggs to completely fill it so avoiding the rows that are to cool isn't a problem, checked with the built in sensor by moving the hood while covering the now open end with thebuilt in and the meat and they were showing same on those 2 rows, Last hatch didn't set it quite close enough as didn't reach. to catch the cool spot which was full. Will pick up also the one you recommend there. not doing it today but later will read up on how to install a second fan and ask son to do it. some humor for ya,as I am not allowed to touch the tools cause I can take things apart and fix stuff but then can't figure out how I got them apart in the first place so dad said no more touching tools.

OK---I did not know it sat on the turner or eggs----Thats good. Nothing wrong with taking apart and fixing---as long as you can put it back together----LOL.

You Might find info on adding another fan--------I am thinking---get a old computer fan---hook it to something similiar to a cell phone charger(Voltage has to be Correct as well as hooked up correctly) form a bracket to instal where you want---etc----simple----LOL.

OK, if the sensor sits right on top of the turner say or eggs and your meat thermometer laying right beside this sensor read about the same----I do not think you need to buy another thermometer. From your last hatch, we feel the built-in one is reading a little low, So still going by it we are raising it one degree. If this hatch hatches on time----we will be got it right and will give you the degree's to go by in the future. If the eggs still hatch a little late we will go a little higher the next setting---a little early we will drop it a little etc.

Ok,already got the other thermometers to be really sure. have enough for all sides of the tray to make sure not getting any cold spots 5 should be more than enough as soon as I install the batteries in the other one with humidity monitor will be ready to try again as been well over 24 hours and incubator is stable

Set 28 eggs at 645 pm MST 100.5 F 41%humidity not adding any neither plug is in

Hey everyone I'm going to be purchasing an incubator to hatch shipped eggs. This will be my first time incubating. I would like the setup to be as idiot proof as possible, and a set it and forget kind of thing.
