The Incubator Thread

Should I toss these eggs? They've been in the bator for two weeks and don't look like anything is in them.

It's hard to tell from the photos but to me it looks like there may be something in there. I would not toss them. I am not very experienced, but I did just hatch out some goslings. I hope someone with more experience will respond,

Ok thanks. These are duck eggs so I guess they are closer to goslings rather than if they were chicken eggs. Do you think they all might be ok? I'll just keep them till the hatching date and wait to see if anything happens.

Remember, chickens hatch after 21 days but ducks after 28. Now if those are Muscovy eggs I understand it very difficult to hatch in an incubator. They also have a 35 Day incubation period.

From the angle of the photo it appears that those eggs are not developing at all; if the photo was taken from above (since the embryo floats to the top) then we could say a little better. This is one of my Pekin eggs at 7 days so your eggs should have something more in them than this as they are a week further along than this one.

Do you think I should get rid of them and start over?

It's easy for me to tell you to start over because they aren't my eggs.

If you really are at 14 days you should at least be able to detect an opaque/black dot about 1/4" or greater in diameter (with or without veining). If you cannot detect even a dot within the egg then there's nothing there and I would start over. However, if even only 1 egg has started to develop then you'd get something out of this and I'd keep going for the 1, but you might want to get the most out of your incubator so you might want to start anew.
