Good Morning All -
My incubator is expected to arrive tomorrow! My brother told me to get the Little Giant with a fan and automatic turning. So - now I am ready for eggs. Does anyone have a suggestion on where to purchase them? I have reached out to any BYC Upstate NY folks to see if anyone has eggs. I'm still trying to follow-up. We are hoping to hatch chicks that will lay colored eggs. Can anyone point us in the right direction?

You should test your incubator for 3 days before putting eggs in it, to calibrate it. Put another hygrometer and thermometer inside to ensure that it's accurate.
Look for eggs online, locally (Craigslist and Facebook).
Shipped eggs will only have a 50% hatch rate on average.

Thank you for the advice on the "calibrating".
That is good advice.
When I used to use incubators, before my 2 silkies, I had a thermometer say the temp was one thing. I bought another on amazon to check it. The second one said the temp was wrong.
So which one did I trust? I had to buy a third one to verify WHICH therm. was correct.

The temp was off enough I would have probably lost eggs. It was a few degrees off.

One more thing. If you buy some of those, remember to get a good "egg candler" so you can look at your eggs to see the development. There are some really good ones, and they are reasonably priced. I love looking at them when they are in the shell, so do my kids and wife. 15 bucks WELL spent.

If you have a cell phone them light on those usually do quite well for candling.

Congrats on the new incubator. Hatching is fun and addicting.

Not sure which LG you purchased but search this site for threads on your model for valuable tips and tricks to make your hatching successful.

Good luck
