I've done a mod to basically every ChromeOS device that crosses my threshold to allow it to run a different OS (Windows/Linux).

The Linux is miraculous
Too bad that mod is blocked by my school and anything interesting like art and animation software with it

ThinkPads are good, most don't have touchscreens but they're worth the money. I have one, and it works pretty well for the most part. Used, of course. Negotiating better parts for a price is something that you can do on ebay and I got mine upgraded by the seller and paid less than their asking price.
