Hello all I'm new to having quails,

We where Given a male and female who are bonded.
the next day we obtained two more girls a little younger.

We have them separated at the moment as I'm not sure on how I'm to introduce them or how to know when they are ready, currently they can see each other but cant get to each other.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have Coturnix. I mean I was wondering cause I'm only adding two to two would it matter I mean I except there would be a little scuffle as they all settle into each other.

are there any noises I should be aware of like the 'I don't like you' kinda thing

welp that didn't go to well our male did his 'job' and the other female just attacked them ... i've separated them again for now. maybe not ready just yet.

Ive made sure their enclosure has hiding spots and plenty of room but they weren't happy. Back to the old drawing board.

Our female nyx seems to just not want them there, could she just be territorial?

From what I have read on here over the last 8 months and I have read every post in the quail forum I know very sad but I want to make sure I have all the info to take care of my own monsters I bought I book too hehe ! X

keep them in separate cages where they can see each other for at least a week and when you do add them in feed them with treats at the same time mine love ❤️ mealworms / bird seed/ veggies or fruit to divert attention from the new quail ! X

I had to separate one of my females at Christmas as she got attacked quite badly she had 3 pretty big holes in her but once she was healed. I put her back they seemed fine for a night but the next day went out the feed them and a female chased the injured quail so she had to fly up with a healing wing so I removed the bully who was in solitary confinement for a week! X I then reintroduced her and no problems since and mine were from the same hatch which is meant to make thing easier ! X

@Dani xxx Thank you I have tried this but I think they need more time. Also the female quails I'm trying to introduce seem terrified of the male. they where kept apart from males till we got them. I know our boys a little rough lover if this a case of they just have to get use to it sorta story?

Since I got my quail in Nov the male was being lovely to all the girls with no problems but as soon as got into spring he went a bit crazy the girls were not happy they kept flying up to get away from him and 2 hit the run roof and made their beaks bleed so I had to put netting up to stop anymore accidents which worked but it took a good week before I saw a successful mating happen after that he calmed down a bit but even now 5 months later they still call like they hate it bless them he tidbits treats for them then jumps them he is a fan of the sneak attack if one is eating he jumps them hehe ! X :lau

haha really so maybe just let them work it out with him and watch for injury, Ive had to take nyx out cause shes getting to nasty with him.

I'm wondering with her gone it might be best to see how they get on with the male with her..... bitchy self

When the weather was nice and hot I really enjoyed sitting in garden with my kindle listening to the girls cricket song then every so often he would crow as if to say I'm here too ! X My then injured quail is called dill and her nemesis is called anise who was put in solitary confinement for bad behaviour you could tell them apart easily as dill was semi purple due to the spray on her wounds but she has grown all new feathers so hard to tell the difference now but anise has slightly more black on her head
Did u get the name nyx from house of night books or from another source ? What colour variety are ur quail mine are Italian colouring here is a pic of some of my girls and their house ! X
