I will take a picture of him and the naked neck tonight. I picked up a buddy for the RIR chick from the local feed store. They know I raise chicks regularly and so where cool with just selling me one.

It‘s been awhile since I posted pictures of the project chicks… I have to get busy this weekend and band the whole lot, including the adult hens. Also I need to name a few. I am really hoping we have some cockerels out of the straight runs (SR) or the RIR chick I hatched is a boy … no joy yet on the RIW eggs, but I will give the few left incubating a few more days. I may have to order more hatching eggs. My husband is digging the Naked Necks.

I do love the colour of the RIRs.

Rhode Island Reds… I can tell them apart by their flight feathers… but will band them this weekend

RIR chick has not been eating or drinking much, despite our efforts to help it, it died. Failure to thrive… so will be recording eggs.

Well we set more eggs, and hopefully the things we are trying this time around will improve hatching rates…
