The "JEFE" of all brooders

I am looking looking looking and cant find the brooder I want. I don't even know if one exist thats is marketed...

I want an aluminum brooder box, decent in size, with a push button electronic thermostat to set the temperature for the brooder... Heck my Hoovabator incubator is push-button, why does everything else use wafers..

I want the brooder to have it already, or, I want to be able to install water nipples for chicks inside on the walls, with bulk water storage to not have to change out water all the time (OR GET DIRTY WATER)

I ABSOLUTELY HATE THE TRAYS THAT HANG ON THE OUTSIDE FOR BOTH FOOD AND WATER, THEY ARE JUNK!

I want to find or invent a chick feeder for the brooder where chicks cant poop in it, or get into it, or flick all the feed out of it and waste feed and has bulk storage...


Anyone know of higher end brooders that are set up WAY WAY better than the cheap GQF and Brower type???





If there isn't any, I think I am going to buy another GQF or Brower (whichever is bigger) and use it for the box, and possibly heat source, but I want to figure out a way to put a electronic thermostat on it like you would have in your house, then mount the thermostat on the wall next to the brooder...

Then I will get chicken water nipples and put multiple ones on it supplied by 5 gallon water tank or such I can mount on the wall as well...

I want to clean this mess up... Food a water supplies are the worst part of these cheap brooders... The wafer heaters work fine, but they are a pain to adjust and you never really know how accurate they are... I want to know that under my heat source its 95 or 90 or whatever degrees... that way I know I am backing down heat 5 degrees a week.... Just looking for a smoother operation here with the brooding... I want birds out of my house too lol

Hhmmm, I probably couldn't afford one already set up like that....but the food and water I think have examples like you describe just for chicks somewhere here on BYC...or the web. The hardest part is wanting the push button electronic heat, but for a home made version check out @beekissed thread on the mamabrooder....its push button...kind of. several people have made these, sorry I can't remember everyone's right now....

The Ecoglo is cleaner looking than the heating pads, but more $$$ there too...but either way the chicks will want cooler sections to retreat to when they get too warm...

But then again, if you're looking at several hundred chicks at a time there are the big inverted boxes with heat lamps, several examples of those here as well....

If it's aluminum tho, will your perfect brooder have insulation? Some way to moderate temperature fluctuations?

Also, I've read many places that front opening brooders as opposed to top opening create a lot less terror in the tiny terra dactyls

Either way I'm building mine this winter with those criteria as well, well except mine will be wood and wire....but I'd love to see what you come up with...

What kind of dimensions are you looking at? How many chicks at a time? Compartments for different aged chicks?
