Cool! I butchered my first/second (the first one was already dead) the other day because he was limping and couldn't get around. I had my brother's friend help me slit the throat since I could not figure out how to break the neck, then I cut off the head since I didn't want him staring at me. I used a tutorial from BYP mag to eviscerate him, and I tied him upside down using twine and bled him into a plastic bag. I enjoyed doing it, except the killing and the defeathering part.
Good for the kids too! They are so cute!

I didn't realize how many fine hairs there would be after plucking! I kept imaging taking a bite and getting a hair or tiny feather

so I finally decided just to go ahead and skin it.

Thanks SO MUCH TO EVERYONE for the wonderful words of encouragment!! It was a great Mother's Day gift to share with my kids

Those fine hairs can be easily siged off using your gas range or a propane torch just by having the flame pass ove the area of the hairs. Or in a pinch, a lit piece of paper or even a lighter will work.

Next time, after you pluck it, pass the bird through a fire (i have a gas stove and it is pretty easy to do it). After that, wash it well and you wont have any "hairs" left. It is gonna be easy to get away the tiniest feathers too. (We use to wash the birds with corn flour, it's gonna take out everything it is left from your plucking or from the fire; don't use the finest corn flour tho).

My relatives hate the plucking so they just skin the birds after they've bled out. Super easy that way especially when you've got 10 or more to process.
