I am the only left hander out of 2 right handed parents, and my older sister is right handed as well. There is 1 aunt who is a lefty, and 1 cousin on either side of my family that are left handed as well, but thats it in about 30 members of my family 13+ that I know.

ETA : Yes it is horrible to grow up in a right handed world, and especially with all right handed immediate family. Always have to sit on one particular end/ side of the table or else busting elbows with whoevers to my left. *sigh* Being taught how to tie my shoes as a kid was horrid, but thankgod DD looks to be ambidextrous(sp) but definately seems to lead with the left hand so I won't have to go through the battles of backwards with me being a lefty and her a righty. I'm a lefty, I use the mouse with my right hand, i can't do it with my left! I can, but it takes me longer and isn't comfortable! Both my parents are righties. One of my twins is a lefty, but his 1st grade teacher made him write with his right hand and he never said a word, I didn't catch it until it was to late, I let the teacher know she was wrong for switching him without consent! She could have cared less!
It is hard not make the kids do thinks lefty when I'm working hand over hand with them, I have to be really aware, or I slip! It is so hard!
