Indeed.This year has been different with people looking into being more self sufficient. I hope it's a trend that continues. There aren't unfortunately enough good homes for every rooster, and meat has to come from somewhere for those that eat it.
Those who wander into the Meat Birds section can find ways to work with heritage breed and pastured ranger cockerels that let them live longer than just being thrown into the grinder as babies which is such a waste and also inhumane.
Those cockerels can be raised until 16-20 weeks or until their first crow for the table or a few for breeding as selected.
I do wonder what the Swiss are doing with all those cockerels that will result.
I think I know what their neighbors the French would do....
