Well the first night in the new coop went very well. found a few things that might need to be modified. my poop boards, plastic lids from some rubbermaid containers, get knocked down by the chicks getting to the roost. got a plan to modify them. we are going to make some from plywood. the chicks have already found the nest boxes, and just like the other coop, they are all laying in the same one. so much for having 4 nest boxes. love the auto door. everyone seems to like the new coop. plenty of roost room for everyone to have the high spot. there was only room for 2 on the high roost in the old coop. It was only big enough for 3 maybe 4 but 5 over loaded it. we are going to leave them locked up today and tonight. it turned off much cooler today, we are glad of that. they ain't real happy being locked up, but they will get over it. tomorrow night will be the test. happy chicky day to all.

We installed the windows just like normal. the latch is on the inside. We removed the screens that came on the windows. I framed out the inside so we could cover the window hole with hardware coth. by not latching the window, it can be opened from the outside. We really don't know if their will be any reason to close them. we don't look at closing them usless it gets really cold. good ventilation is real important, more so than the cold.
