Chapter 36
Where was she?
"Hey, Lilly... Rose... do you know where Bambi is?"
"She payed hide and seek!" Lilly peeped.
"Where did she 'hide' then?" I asked her.
Lily shooked her head and shrugged. Oh great.
"Bambi!?" I yelled for her, "Where are you, Bambi!?"
"Mammy! I saw some 'in!" Rose churped.
I looked all around and I didn't see anything. "What did you see Rosie?" I asked.
"Some 'in moving in da bushes!" She responded and pointed to a set of bushes.
"Bambi are you in there?" I asked nervously, then i turned to the girls, "Girls, go fly up to our nest and hide there, okay?"
"But-" They said in unison.
"Go!" I yelped. "Let Mommy handle this on her own."
They did what they were told and flew all the way up to our nest. Once they got there I turned my attention to the bushes in front of me. I kept asking if it was Bambi, but no answer. I finally jumped behind the bushes and saw nothing. I moved to another bush and still nothing. I hope Rose wasn't playing a joke on me. I saw something move in a different bush and raced over there to meet a... a-a fox! I screamed and raced to my tree. It caught my leg and I kicked it in the face, digging my claws into it. My foot loosened and I flew up to the first branch of my tree. It couldn't get me now unless it jumped up and grabbed me, so I flew all the way up to my nest.
"Mammy! Are you alright!?" Lilly peeped.
I nodded, "Mommy is just fine, dear. Let's get some rest right now. Bambi will soon come back when the fox is gone."
They got under my wings and fell right to sleep. I stayed wide awake looking at the fox who was circling the tree, trying to find a way to get us.
I bet she was doing this
and the chicks were
