Ruby ran over to Connor and Flower. "Oh, Sage." She said. She sounded like she was about to cry.

Sage had felt herself leave her body. With the last pump of her heart, with the last whisper from her lungs, she felt the wings that had been beating inside her forever come to a stop.
She was gone, but her soul lingered.
She smiled down at the crowd flocking around her material body.
"I'll see you all again." She said, knowing they could not hear her.
And then she was just another breeze on the cool, grief-thickened air.
