"I'm sure one of the older birds would tell us where it is." he said. "Snowberry would surely let us. We are at the age where we can make our own decisions now."Ash looked at stone in amazement and shock. “Really?”
“Okay, let’s ask.” ash shook her feathers out, and looked at stone."I'm sure one of the older birds would tell us where it is." he said. "Snowberry would surely let us. We are at the age where we can make our own decisions now."
Ash was nervous, it was Snowberry, after all.Stone walked up to Snowberry. His great-uncle was slightly terrifying with all his majesticness and his huge curved spurs.
"Snowberry...Ash and I want to go see the barn of captive hens. Ash believes it has something to do with her past.
We'd be very careful. I promise."
Snowberry looked at him curiously.
Snowberry slowly nodded, scrutinizing the two young birds with golden-brown eyes just like Stone's. "Do you promise to be careful? Not do anymore than watch from a distance? You MUST be careful. I would never hear the end of it from Eerie if my great-nephew went missing under my instruction." He grumbled.Ash was nervous, it was Snowberry, after all.

Stone nodded eagerly.
Ash looked at stone, and it struck her how nice he was being, going out of his way to help her.Snowberry motioned with his beak at the belt of woods. "If you follow the stream, down past the birch copse, it'll spit you out in a field that was cleared by humans. If your cross the road, you'll see the huge gray structure."
"What's a road?" Stone piped up.
"A flat gray stone that stretches on and on through human places. You must cross it when it is empty. Huge beetle-like things rush across it, crushing anything in their way. They are called cars. Stay away from them, no matter what."
