Duck's breath caught in his throat, and his heartbeat increased. He was sure that Moon would be able to hear it. But eventually it eased, and he let out a contented sigh. Duck looked down at her. Her silver feathers were mingling with his golden hackles.
Splash still did not know that there was a snake and that she was supposed to cover up her burrow. She hid in the farthest corner she could of the burrow. She hoped that Coal would come back soon.
Percy watched Henri, “do you know if Ruby is safe or not?” he asked anxiously.
Moon heard him breathing fast and assumed he was scared of the snake. She put a silvery wing over his back.
She shook her head, 'no'. "I haven't been around her lately." She replied and sat down in a spot in the dark burrow.
Splash woke up when Coal came in. "What is happening?" She asked nervously.
Duck shuffled closer, marveling in her warmth. "What do you thinks happening out there." He whispered into her ear, his small, but bright red wattles bouncing against Moon's white earlobe.
Dew woke up too.
