"I'm scared of snakes." said Fang. "Snakes have fangs. Fangs our so scary that I shudder every time I hear the word." Fang lay back, smiling vaguely, because she didn't know what she had just said.

Fern collapsed the entrance to Eerie and Toad’s burrow by tugging on roots, causing a mini-landslide that blocked the entrance. Her daughter, River, had run in moments before, and was sitting with Eerie’s chicks.

Fang woke, unsettled. Something- Oh right! Crying squeals beconed her away from Rain as her egg was crying with two high-pitched voices. Fang put the egg under her and wondered if the snake situation had been managed yet. Rolling the egg, she reseteled her self next to her best friend. Oh Rain, what did I do to deserve you? Fang thought happily. The rats had stopped squealing under the warmth of Fang's body.

Eerie raced back from her evening walk, diving into a burrow that was probably Sage’s. Where was Toad? She paced in indecisiveness. She could collapse the burrow entrance, and guarantee her own safety. Or she could wait for Toad.
The choice was obvious. She stopped pacing.
