the mac thread!

Are you SERIOUS about the one virus? Absolutely SURE? I posted earlier about my power cord not charging, but I was upset at the moment and found out it was only the outlet I was using...my bad.
But you should NEVER, EVER have a virus on a mac. When I was shopping for one in November I was told by every MAC salesman in every store I went to (and some mac heads that DON'T sell them) that there has yet to be a virus written for a MAC. That it's impossible for one to even get a virus...that is pretty much why I decided one one. If you are sure it was a virus, you should get in touch with the Apple guys.

There was a virus on system 7 that was transfered by infected zip disks. We "caught" it from the place that used to do film output from our files.

Apple knew all about it. They made the patch to get rid of it.

This was YEARS ago, so relax.

But yes, there have been a few viruses written for the mac, but they were BENIGN. There have been no viruses written for systems 8-10 that I am aware of.

That must have been the ONE they told me about. They did say it was years ago and that they were right on top of it. I think that's truly what sold me. I absolutely hate renewing anti virus software every year knowing that they are probably the same people who WRITE the viruses.

Am I paranoid, or what?

You can get a cheap USB keyboard or mouse from any computer place. It doesn't have to say MAC on it.

If your mac is only 3 months old, it is under warrantee. Take it to your nearest Mac store.

Since it is your son's computer, I have to ask...did he spill something on the keyboard?
