hi group,have 2 peacocks,now ,both are 19 months old.
one is an IB,the other some type of weak spaulding percentage.
the spaulding has an all green tail, and the IB,has a lot of eye feathers.
the spaulding, seems to be the dominate male,as he is the one shrieking all day, where the other one never makes a sound.
will this quite one eventually shreik?,or is he silent, due to him not being the dominate one?
seems strange?,that the one with the most advanced tail,is the quite one?

Not true mine started at 12 months and my last years hatch have been practicing and they are about 7 months old.
right now my oldest male is 18 months and is calling all threw the day wondering around by himself and giving the roosters grief if they look at him wrong. he has one dinky eye feather that sticks out to the left all by itself, looks funny

Take a pic Zaz!

I have a 2 yr old IB Peacock "Rayne", and he's been calling a lot lately too, and lots of displaying ... to the Guineas, LMAO ! (Until he sees me lookin' at him of course, then he whistles, drops the trains and walks away all calm, cool, collected and nonchalant like he wasn't doing anything). What a dork! (His IB Peahens... "Spring", "Summer" and "Autumn" just ignore him, poor guy, lol). I've noticed a couple of my Guinea Hens lookin' a little ratty on their backs and acting rather skitterish when he gets anywhere close to them... poor lil girlies, they aren't even half his size, lol.

Is what you are hearing actually the mating call? My guy was very talkative, but the spring when he turned three he started a totally different call. It's louder and carries a lot further.

I know that is what my boy is doing ,sounds carries along way in the winter here on the flatlands it is a wonder the sheriffs posse hasn't been out to see where the woman is that is being beaten, cause thats what it sounds like.

My neighbors half a mile down the road asked if we had big cats

Funny, I put them in a temp pen in the yard and suddenly had a lot of traffic going by. Vehicles, people walking, 4 wheelers... Most of the neighbors love them.
