Let's use this thread to list processors you know, use, recommend, or not. That way there will be one place where folks can look to see if there is someone near enough to take their birds for processing.

You can also list yourself if you do processing for a fee or rent equipment.

And especially list yourself if you're willing to help a BYCer learn how to do processing themselves!

I'll start: I'm in western West Palm Beach, FL, and willing to show BYC members how to learn processing by themselves. It's the way I learned and I'm glad to pass along the favor. You're welcome to come watch/help the next time I process here. I do a lot of standard-bred and home-hatched mixed-breed roosters and usually have some to do each month. I'm also willing to travel to you and help you set up to do your own at your place. If it's far away you'll have to buy lunch for my van.

Anyone in southwest Wisconsin, (I am south of LaCrosse, WI) I would be glad to do the "buddy processing", or I can give the names of Amish neighbors you can hire. Great idea!

You need to make an appointment because it seems they have days they only do poultry, and days they only do other types of livestock.

Sweet! The closest I could find was Arthur, according to mapquest that would be 2 hours 47 minutes, 102 miles and the shortest distance. Looks like Sterling would be closer to me. Thanks for the info!!!

Edited to add: Central IL Poultry Processing, 119 N County Road Oooe, Arthur, IL 61911 (217) 543-2937
