I'm the opposite, If it hits 30 I'll freeze to death, the heats fine, just dont like working in it all the time, guess I picked the wrong line of work though, I do construction work, not much AC there in new houses.

Here's a link to one of the greatest places on earth. Yall may have remembered me talking a time or two about Mike and Ali Lubbocks place in NC, Sylvan Heights Waterfowl (Park now)
Here's a link to it, this collection is I'd say over 70 years old now and features almost every species of waterfowl that exist in the world.
Back in my days, they were just a private breeder/conservationist thing, now they are a full blown educational park for waterfowl.

I might be headed there in a year or so and would definitely plan to check that place out.

I agree, there isn't much air conditioning, or heat in new construction. I am a sparky and sometimes to wire one circuit on a cold day is a good day... But i'd still rather have the cold than the heat. Sylvan Heights looks like a wonderful place! I'd love to go there, but I'd be so jealous! Its like driving a nicer car than I have, I'll hate mine when I get back in it!

I love the grass, there are some days that I don't get to see my birds, its so thick, but they seem happy. I consider myself lucky for now. We'll see what a few more pairs of birds do for it!

I'm just wondering how much grass the wigeon will eat... Will a pair of wigeon keep the grass down on a 100 sq. ft. area? Bigger, smaller? I just want to get an idea on what to expect when I get me a pair. I am going to get me 2 pair of split/silver woodies (the money makers), a pair of ring teal (surrogate mother), and a pair of chiloe wigeon (to keep the grass down and per request of a local taxi). He wanted to get all 3 wigeon in a mount. We shoot 5 or 6 european wigeon here in UT every year so he may get lucky and get one of those.

These birds are all great lookin birds, and I hope to make some money to pay for my habit!

An elk is a tall order! I gotta get me one too! We shoot lots of ducks that others don't shoot out here on a regular basis... And swan!

would love to do that too Travis, all we have here out side of seaducks on the coast, is woodies, merganser,and canadas and a rare stragler or two of other stuff, unless you head over to some of the huge lakes.

As for the widgeon, they and northern pintails will take care of it, how long have you had this pen going? Usually the first year is hard for them to keep up with it, but after the second year when the winter kills it off, it never gets a chance to come back, at least not for me. Wideons and pintails will definately help you out though.
Get an elk hunt lined up and I'm there! LOL

I hear ya on the pen... I put sod in there before i had the birds this spring. So I'm sure they will keep up with it after this coming winter. That clarifies a lot...

I've shot one plumed out woodie, we almost never see them here. Sea ducks, except for the occasional long tailed duck on the GSL, nada. I'll see what I can do!
