Shell Ducks... Depending on what you are looking for I can probably find them for you.. I know a breeder around here just had some he was trying to help another breeder sell. Not sre if he still has them because he took alot of auction this weekend.

And tree ducks.. I got those when you are ready!

Ok I seriously have a bird problem...
Went to an auction this weekend...
Bought 2 pairs of Golden Red pheasants, 1 pair of Sebastopols and then when I got back I broke down and got the pair of Hottentots...
And to top it off I found a pair of East African Cranes close by that have been DNA sexed... ok can I put them in with my ducks? i have been told they are kept with theirs but I am not so sure.. planning on building a pen or two this year anyways

My friend kept them with his ducks with no problems. His pen size is 90x30. He got rid of them this year cause he needed some cash.

first off the hottentots!

But yes, I have seen countless collections with E.A. Crowned Crains or Demoiselle Cranes in with their waterfowl collections. None have ever told me of any messing with their smaller birds. I wouldnt advise mixing the cranes, but from all I have seen and heard, they get along just fine with waterfowl, especially in a set up as large as the one you have.

Many years ago, a buddy of mine (a professor or Ornithology at FSU) had both in his various aviaries. He was one of the original people who got me started in all this. But that's one thing I always remembered about his collection, those long legged cranes walking around with his teal and Argentina ruddy ducks, it was a beautiful collection.

Unfortunately, the city of Tallahassee made him close his facility down years ago because he was too close to a stream and they accused him of pollution when draining his ponds.....like a metro area like Tallahassee needs to be worried about a duck keeper being their biggest polluter! what a shame.....

I may have to get them then!! hmmmmmmmmm
starting to think I need to thin out what I already have...

Found my fisrt 6 eggs this weekend!! 5 are together but they are all different colors and sizes in the raised nest box... the one was a lone egg so I put it under the broody hens!! it had been ther for a few days... and we have our first three baby chickens!

Well i'm not sure if i screwed myself over this year or not. Both my mandarin hens have laid a small sum of eggs by this time but i'm puzzled by the fact that lately my drake has been losing his big boy feathers!! today i went out and both his sail feathers were in the water!!! just looks like he is molting. I wonder if this has to do with the lights??? well i guess you live, you learn.
