Enjoyed the visit with your family. I hope the birds do well for you. I know they will though. Maybe youll luck out and get a pair out of those bonus birds I gave you or at least both males. Had a great morning trip. We caught 4 king mackeral and 3 cobia ( biggest was a 70 lb er)

I need advice on my Barrow's Goldeneye.. In two weeks she had laid 6 eggs in raised wood duck box and then this week laid 1 in a ground box next to the raised box she was in.. It has been 3 weeks since she started laying but she has not began pulling feathers or setting on them.

Should I pull them and put them on a Broody Cochin? I have one that won't get off her eggs unless we make her and her chickens hatched this weekend and she is now on Turkey eggs but I would much rather he be on my Barrow's Eggs!!
or she laid 1 or 2 of her 7 eggs this week. We have only seen her in there twice since she started laying.

My sad news.... My Apricot Wood duck has sat on her eggs for over 30 days now.. she was actually for the first time off her nest today when I checked on her in hopes to find babies in her box... Wooh did it stink.. out of 10 eggs.. she only had two that may have babies in them ( I pulled them and candled them) and the rest 8-10 were rotten and never began to develop... I was looking forward to them...

So hopefuly one of my other girls will hatch soon! 4 wood/mandarins setting (can't really tell by looking throught he hole), 2 ring teal, 1 bahama, Merganser and 1 Eyton setting.. though most are very jumping and come off there next in a heart beat. My poor Merganser will jump out of her box if hs hears you within 10ft...

If she's been 3 weeks, yes you better pull them and start them under a hen, some most likely are too old now anyway. Since she's not laying in the same box now, I would say she has no intentions of setting them. Some just do that... you'll have great mothers, and some who could care less . Sounds like she's a care less one.
something may have broken her up from that box, or who knows, but yes I would definately get them started in a hen

Wow, nice!

Found this duckling dead floating in the pool this Morning and have no clue who hatched it. I had put 2 mystery eggs in the Sterile Chiloes ground box but can't tell if the other one is or will hatch. Pulled Daisys eggs today a week over due. She is my other Ringed Teal hen. I got 2 new first yr Drakes from 2 different people and I guess they are not fertile yet. Both my hens are proven. anyway I took the box down and took to trash can to empty it. Her eggs were turning black but there were also 2 beige larger eggs pipped so I rushed them back and put them in the Chiloes nest and moved her nest to the empty nursery section and closed the gate so they can't get to the pool and they can be protected. Good grief!!!
Unknown Duckling- Any ideas??

hard to say, so many look that way as ducklings. What all do you have as possiblities?

based off leg color, 2 eye stripes and all, I'm betting you have an opened green egg in the pen somewhere too?
Northern pintail , is what I am thinking it is

no green eggs. The eggs I gave the Chiloe were white/off white. Mandarin doesn't look like them to me, White-faced Whistlers didn't lay last year, Fulvous they hatch silver, Ringed Teal hatch Silver, Chestnut-Breasted Teal This my first year for them. The new Chiloe, Falcated Teal didn't lay last year, Common Goldeneye didn't lay last year ,Hottentot eggs to large to be theirs, Northern Shoverler didn't lay last year, Brazilian Teal new for me this year, Cinnamon Teal has ducklings now, Black-bellied Whistling Ducks I sold about 3 weeks ago so it's possible didn't lay last year. The long tail is really throwing me.
