What do you get when you cross a pure black Ameraucana Roo over a blue olive egger hen, (with pure Marans and ameraucana parents)?🤔

A yellow Easter Egger?! 😟😲

⁉️⁉️⁉️ HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?! ⁉️⁉️⁉️

We put Tony over Grace for the last 6 months (and he has mated her), and this chick has yellow down, yellow legs, and no feet feathers. 🐣😮

The ONLY OTHER ROOSTER she had mated with was a huge white Easter Egger named Clyde...🐓

That was 6 MONTHS AGO!
These are the first eggs she has laid in over 7 months. 🐔

❔❔❔OUR QUESTIONS❔❔❔

1. HOW IS IT POSSIBLE SHE IS STILL FERTILE FROM CLYDE?

2. HOW MANY EGGS UNTIL SHE LAYS OLIVE EGGERS FROM TONY?

3. WHERE CAN WE FIND MORE INFORMATION ON THIS SUBJECT OF THE HOWS AND WHYS?

⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️⁉️

We are truly shocked and amazed!
Any help would be appreciated!

Hidden genes below your patterns... wheaten chicks hatch fairly yellow and you said the hen was from a wheaten cross. Chick down color WILL change with maturity. Also note that chick leg color can change with maturity. See how yellow the legs look on these..

1) No you cannot have fertile eggs from a mating that happened 6 months ago... maximum time is 3-4 weeks MAX.

2) If there are no other roosters involved all eggs being laid are fertile from Tony. 1-2 days after introduction will give some fertilization. By about 3 weeks usually 100% according to my experience.

3) The most information on this subject seems to be right here on BYC. Sounds like you are off to a fantastic genetic learning adventure! :wee

Grace is a cross herself and only got 1 gene for feathered legs. When crossed to an Ameraucana with NO feathered leg... Using a punnet square might help you see how this works.

Hope this is a little helpful. :pop

Oh wow!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I AM SO EXCITED to learn more! I had no idea! This is incredible! 😲😲❗❕❗❕❗❕❗❕ You have no idea how much that information means to me! I am so happy to know the chick is an olive egger instead of an Easter Egger for one. And I have so much left to learn!
