The Missing Heir RP

((I thought it was funny too, and it fits his character!))

He coughed a few times before responding, "Nay, If so eager to continue the fight, ye may finish me out here," Aeron gestured to the knee deep, fast flowing, cold water he stood in, knowing that the Zurian, being cold blooded, would not want to enter the river. He slipped the daggers back in his boots and smiled at the Zurian as he did so...

((Lol!))

The taunt frustrated Karok. He narrowed his eyes as his frill turned nearly black in anger. With only a moment to think Karok slowly started for the river. This is idiotic...but I can't allow him to escape. The heavy boots around Karok filled with the cold water causing him to shiver. In just that split second it was already harder to move, his limbs feeling heavier and skin shivering. "Why drag this out?" Karok asked. "Why is it you refuse to shift? Refuse to face justice?"

Aeron started to back away, he was close to the other side of the river. "I refuse to let myself be killed, for if ye have me face justice, that wilt be my fate..." His voice was hoarse, and he coughed again, then continued, "And for thy query as to why I dost not shift, that is for I to know." Aeron was almost at the edge of the river and his feet felt like they were freezing, he felt a pang guilt for the Zurian, though he forced it away quickly.

The concerns of the horse thief were true, authorities demanded that he hang. As much as Karok hated death it was his duty to uphold law. The river grew stronger as Karok crossed it, or really, the Zurian grew weaker. His body shook as he felt his blood turn frigid, the current began to overcome Karok despite his weight. Suddenly, the slippery rocks gave way and the Zurian stumbled into the water. The freezing temperature shocked Karok as he gasped. Fear overtook his sense of duty as he struggled to right himself, freezing water began to fill his armor and threatened to drag him under.

As the Zurian fell, Aeron turned to run, but... Something in him could not let this noble man, die in such a why, for die he would if his blood was not warmed sone. Aeron cursed the side of him that had some honor left and struggled back upstream to the Zurian's aid. He quickly reached for the mans arm under water, hoping the Zurian would not think he was trying to drown him.

Aeron got the Zurian's head above water, almost falling in himself, he was weak & shaky from almost drowning himself only a few minutes earlier. Calling to his horse who came running, he hoped to use the beast to help him pull the heavily armored Zurian to the shore.

Karok felt himself being lifted from the freezing waters. For a moment he was sure he was dead. He hadn't realized the thief had come back for him, an act of mercy that he himself had asked for only moments ago. Instincts kicked in as Karok wrapped his arm around the freisian with Aerons aid. The cold had made the Zurians body stiff but, he forcefully trudged towards the shore. The instant his feet were upon dry ground he collapsed, holding his arms to his chest and shivering furiously. Looking up Karok could easily make out Aerons shape. "Why?" Was all he could manage to breath out.

Aeron thought for a moment, then decided to tell the truth, "Because ye deserve a honorable death, taken by sword in noble battle or peacefully in thy sleep, but not by the cold grasping fingers of water. Nay, death should not have ye like that." He said, looking away, he rarely let his guard down and his true character show.

He sat beside the Zurian, knowing the man was in no condition to try and catch him. Suddenly incapacitated by exhaustion, he sighed.

With a quiver in his voice Karok answered, "With luck I shall be taken in such ways. But, is it you do not wish for this yourself?" It confused Karok that a man with this character had become a thief. The sun felt as heaven on Karoks she i covering skin. He extended his rill to soak it up and remained upon the ground, still much to tired to move. It is this man must face justice, but with my life in his debt, he will not face it by my hand...

((Sure, I'm fine with it. I don't want you to feel left out! Is it ok with you LoveThatChick?))
