The Moonshiner's Bootleg Incubator Reviews And Discussions

Ya know, I didn't Need another incubator. I really didn't. But I do have a hen who lays fragile eggs I've wanted a chick from for years.
And your discussion made my wallet a bit lighter. But I have 3 eggs out of 12 that are developing. That's never happened, so thanks.

What kind did you get?

Hi, does anyone have any advice for me for using the Maticoopx? I'm a little apprehensive because my last one didn't go so well (7 eggs went into lockdown, only 1 hatched and rest didn't even pip, not sure what caused it to died). This one is with a different incubator my cousin gave to me. Today, I found out all her eggs (the eggs are from our chickens, so same source) pipped and I'm just baffled because she has excessive humidity (70-85% first 18 days and almost 100% during lockdown, no clue if they'll zip or drown) and opens the incubator every day to spray water on it. It is with the same incubator we used the first time around.

For the second batch, we are planning to go with Maticoopx20. I don't know what I should be doing for a successful hatch but I really, really don't think we should follow her example. However, my parents are thinking otherwise and everything I found online are lies/bad research. Here are some stuff that comes to mind, I want to know if anyone has tips for me.

1) How long should I run the incubator for before putting the eggs in?
2) Can an egg be "too fresh" to be put in? I read that eggs should be stored with the tip facing down and rotated. Neither my parents or I did that for the eggs we collected the first 2 days, I did it today (flipped it completely, I saw some people say just tilt so worried I did it wrong...)
3) The eggs are all slightly porous. It isn't excessive (IMO at least), so should it be incubated at a different humidity?

Thanks to anyone who can answer!

I saw someone’s setup in a video like so, and I was going to try this. 😂 But I wonder if the actual 3D printing would be better to splurge on? 🤔 That’s a really cool design!

I recently got a (well, and a second) Maticoopx30. I had seen some good reviews but this thread pushed me towards them. Time will tell if they’re right for me!

I have another question in regards to the Maticoopx. My dad bought a Goabroa mini hygrometer/thermometer, and the first thing I see upon opening the manual for the Maticoopx is to not to use a digital one due to inaccurate readings. I tested it out anyways. The hygrometer seems to match up, but the temperature is not. I set it at 100.5 degrees and the Goabroa is showing 105 degrees. Now what? Do I need to actually get another thermometer to test the validity of it?
