@Amer and yes, the male has a ton of black leakage in the breast. I like the red breasts of the females. I am looking forward to watch them grow out to see how they look.
 
So basically, chick hatch down may not have as much to do with their base then? If I understand correctly? So if the Red Leghorns are fully eWh, how are all of my chicks looking homozygous for duckwing? I am trying to figure all this out. I have read a ton of nicalandia's old posts to try to understand it.
Well, those chicks definitely look Duckwing to me. I was just pointing out there are genes that cause striping on wheaten based birds but they never look like duckwing.

I have no doubt they are full duckwing based. I was just trying to make sense as to how. The hatchery Red chicks being split e+/eWh seemed like a strong possibility until I read the article you found. Now I am back to not knowing anything. lol

The one thing I do know is the chicks are not mixed with Sussex. If they were, they would have white leg color by now.
