You could have crossed the hens to a duckwing male, then backcrossed a barred split mottled son back to the hens to get some more 55 Flowery birds. Where did you get your original 55 Flowery Hens? Greenfire Farms seems to be sold out constantly. I would like to add some to my flock eventually just because of how pretty they are, and they seem to be good layers of big white eggs like a white leghorn.

Mine were from GFF but through someone semi local. He needed buff males and I had extras so we worked out a trade.

That is awesome! I wish I could find decent stock local to me. Instead you see a lot of crossbred or poorly bred looking birds advertised as something like “wine dotts” or hatchery barred rocks advertised as “dominikers.” I have to order eggs or chicks when I want decent birds.

It's almost a good thing good birds are expensive and hard to get a hold of. I will never be overwhelmed by birds if I'm super picky about what I want

Same! If I could find Leghorns in all the varieties @The Moonshiner has locally we would starve to death buying chicken feed.

Oh that could be offensive.

When someone calls Marans a “Maran” or “Moron,” I die a little inside. You can bet your bottom dollar them chickens came from a hatchery and lay eggs the color of a Rhode Island Red egg.

Hey they spelled White Leghorn and Rhode Island Red right! Your locals sound a lot more educated than the ones around me! Its “Wite Leggerns” and “Road Iland Reads” around here! Straight up.
