The Moonshiner's Leghorns

Wasn't expecting her.
Both original parents should have columbian so I expected all offspring would be showing columbian. Not sure why she has a wheaton type showing.
The MF leghorns have always been a pattern fuster cluck so idk maybe the hen only had one copy of Columbian.
Not trying to think that hard about it now. Lol
Is it possible to have mixed up eggs? I know it's happened to me.

Absolutely not, I'm a professional.
When I pull eggs I mark them right then with a letter code. My hatcher is divided into sections so when they go in they are separated from anything else that could possibly hatch looking simular. When they come out I take out each section one at a time and count and check chicks vs hatched egg shells. Then they are immediatly toe punched.
But besides all that the only thing I was hatching that could be simular at that time was pure buffs.

I bet that’s it. One copy of Columbian.

Ya ya. We'll see.
Not much good times here. Its cold and slow. Been moving smaller groups into bigger groups trying to see what I can do about reducing numbers of pens which will reduce time involved with feeding and watering. Mostly want to cut down on waters. Soon I'll be breaking ice and toting water so 4, 5 or 6 pens is less work then 20.
It's been painful (shut it Overo) but ive let a lot of birds go. Too many. Got rid of 40 and then 40 more. Then 236 went to action. Looking pretty scarce out there.
Probably need another 100 to go but may hold off until after Christmas. Ya still going through a ton of food so gonna keep an eye on that and see if I can hold off or more need to go sooner rather than later.

Yeah, I hear ya. I just set up a lever pump on a well that I have on my property, close to where my chickens are at so I don't have to carry water from the house. It comes in pretty handy.
I suspect you're happy with what you're keeping. Would love to see where you're at come spring the patterns that you have.
