The Moonshiner's Leghorns

You can buy a handgun when you are 21, or a rifle when you are 18, I think is the age limits. With all of the crazy, deranged people in the world, everyone needs a means of protecting themselves. Even if it is pepper spray on your keychain.
Yes, age wise I’m fine, but they would never give me one because they can’t legally if you’ve been inpatient within the last 5 years. Which I have been. More than once. And even after the 5 years, I think you still need an affidavit from a doctor or psychologist. Just learned all this lol I knew you couldn’t have one after being inpatient but didn’t realize the rest of it. Massachusetts is VERY strict lol I could try pepper spray though. They might give me that. I have to find a store that sells it around here. I think there is one not too far away. But back to the gun thing, even if I COULD have one, I wouldn’t feel safe with one around right now.

But I feel bad derailing the thread lol

Get some bear spray. Something that will squirt a good distance. Just like spraying wasp. Hit them till they drop and keep spraying till they quit moving.
I never used to know creepers were such an issue. They really need to be ended.
Creepers are definitely an issue, as are druggies and meth-heads in my area. I have a can of pepper spray my mom gave me, but if I feel like my life is in true danger, they are gonna get sprayed alright. With some hollow points.

I'm pretty sure you can buy pepper spray over the counter at pawn shops and maybe even some gas stations or retail stores. It is basically just concentrated pepper juice. Non-lethal. Just something to carry for "just in case." You pray to never need to use it, but it's there for if you ever do.

Yeah, I think there’s a retail store or two here that sells it. I just have to go there LOL and yeah, true! Good point!

I have a tragic announcement to make. My Buff Leghorn pullet that was free ranging (Little Sissy) is missing. No trace of her anywhere, not one feather. The dogs killed a possum the other night and I wonder if the possum took her prior to its demise? Or maybe it was another one. Grrr I hate varmints! My husband has waged war on the varmints and has been trapping them like crazy, but I guess one still managed to get a chicken. And which chicken did it take? The only one I currently had free ranging that was named. It was a rookie mistake. She did so well free-ranging and never wandered far. Her brother, another Buff Leghorn from the group, wanders all the way to our neighbor's back forty and nothing has gotten him. But alas, he has no name.

Moral of the story, the varmints think that chickens with names are tastier.

My husband was making a peanut butter sandwich a bit ago when I walked into the kitchen, and I was like "why are you making a PB sandwich?" He said it's to bait the trap with. So he goes above and beyond making varmints PB sandwiches and stuff to bait the trap, just to catch them and un-alive them. I thought that was funny. lol 😆
