The Moonshiner's Leghorns

He's entitled! I am completely enamored with mine. I love everything about them. My DH got me outside for a bit today to sit in the shade and watch them. It got up to 90°F here! I have not been able to do that for weeks so it was a real treat.
The only complaint I have with them is they take longer to start laying than other breeds. Otherwise, I love the way they look and love their blue eggs. I may cross some over Leghorn to increase their egg production as layers, but with blue eggs. The hatcheries call that cross a Super Blue Egg Layer. :)

Do some call it he Prairie Bluebell Egger? I have two PBE that look exactly like Brown Leghorns but they lay blue. White earlobe, even. But not skittish.

How goes the job hunt, KF? You are on my prayer list.
Thank you, friend! I appreciate the prayers, and I am confident that the right job will come along in God's time so I am trying to exercise patience (not my strongest virtue). I interviewed and turned down further interviews with a practice about week ago, so another one bites the dust. I had heard a lot of negative things and it just didn't feel right. I have applied for a job through a place where my friend works that does telehealth and wellness type visits, and I am keeping my eyes peeled for other potential prospects. :)

Yes I do believe so! From what I see online, a PBE is an Ameraucana and White Leghorn cross, but I'm sure they can be crossed using any variety of Leghorn like Browns to produce a hybrid super layer. I love a hybrid superlayer. :D

My Ams were only about a month behnd the Aussies. Darnit, I shoulda kept notes! Let's see. I got them early July. And I got my first Am pullet egg on 2/10. So, right about seven months. I know the date bc just today I blew out the first pullet egg and it was dated, lol.

Mine don't lay before 8-9 months of age. It's annoying. lol
