The Moonshiner's Leghorns

Correct. Cochins, Orpingtons, Ameraucanas, and now (I guess) Wyandottes, or any breed that has lavender. Cream and Chocolate are other dilutes where you get "splits".

ETA: I was assuming you meant in breeding purebred cochins, please don't breed a cochin to a leghorn. :lau
This does not seem to have anything to do with my post. Am I missing something or did you quote my post by mistake?

I'm confused by your answer. Why would it not work with bantam cochin?
At first I thought maybe bantams were different but it sounds like you are saying cochin are different. Why?

It's a bit of an inside joke, but @The Moonshiner used to raise other varieties of poultry, namely Cochins and Orpingtons. He decided Leghorns were the superior fowl. We regularly give him grief over this. So it was ironic that you wanted to take his teachings and apply it to bantam cochins. The blasphemy! lol

I don't think they followed the original intent of your post. They are discussing breeds that have Lavender in them, not your original question about mixing patterns in Cochins to create "new" patterns.

Sorry about the confusion. Yes it works with any breed bantam or LF. It WILL work with bantam cochins. Color/pattern genetics are just that. Its the same across all the breeds.
Yes you actually got caught up in a ongoing inside joke of sorts. @Overo Mare is a huge bantam cochins fan. I've been trying to convert her but she's not listening. When you mentioned them I was like oh no, she's gonna have an ally and I don't need that.

I was just working up an awesome new Standardbred Leghorn thread when I decided to give it one more shot at finding the old one, and voila.

Behold: The Leghorn Breeders Thread—All Varieties

Now, caveat. There's only four pages and so far the emphasis isn't focused on standardbred birds very hard at all. Should we roll with this or start a new thread with a hard focus on standardbred birds with the APA standard and "Rules of Engagement" right up front?

I ask here because this seems to have the highest concentration of Leghorn enthusiasts, but I feel like general discussion of the breed is off-topic since this is supposed to be about Moonshiner's birds.

What say you, @The Moonshiner ?
Ya I'd start a new thread. Then you can start it right off with what you want it to be about and bring in those interested.
