The Moonshiner's Leghorns

Just thinking if they are hooked up together and something manages to fry the element, you will be in the same situation cos it will probably fry both at the same time
Ya I'm not an electrician so I'm kinda clueless if it just failed or something fried it? IDK?
Once in my late teens I tore my Harley down to the frame and customized everything including all the wiring. Did great until one night coming home from the bar. It started raining pretty hard and apparently I had sliced a spark plug wire with a mounting bracket. Once everything was soaked every time it fired on that cylinder it spark to the frame and shocked the piss outta me. Luckily I wasn't feeling much pain and survived about 10 damn miles of shock therapy.

Know that's not really a laughing matter, but I just had to put a pet bird down so it did give me a bit of a chuckle. Thanks

But she's not even incubating Leghorns or even chickens for that matter.....
Uh oh.

An update and a dilemma.
So i fired up my Pepsi incubator and set 41 eggs a few days ago.
Today when I went to check on it I quickly noticed the thermometers were all reading 80°.
The heating element had burned out. I bought two to begin with so I pulled the dead one and replaced it. Now the dilemma. What to do?
Keep running it as is and hope failures aren't common and frequent or look into swapping for a different type? Or?
If I decide to go a different route that's researching (which I hate) to find a different option and then also coming up with mounting ideas and follow through all while eggs are in progress.
It wouldn't be a big deal to order some back ups of what I have.but the thought of having this happen again let alone every now and again isn't thrilling.
This is what I'm using. They're 250 watts and easily run it to temp without being on constantly. They're also inexpensive. Bonus.

A thought I had was to install two. Then if one fails the other should still function and easily keep it going. If I notice one not working (which wouldn't be hard as you can see they glow when on) I could replace it when necessary.
Thoughts? Ideas?
I would maybe run both elements off of separate thermostats so if one fails and the temperature drops the other one is triggered and kicks in that would be a non-sophisticated way of doing it.. I'm just looking through this on my lunch break

Yippee! I can’t wait to see your Leghorns! I love Leghorns! :celebrate
Ha! I love Legs-BBQed! But the more and more, I'm getting into chickens (NOT in the biblical sense!) the more and more I'm becoming a vegetarian.
I've already given up BUYING pork, but if someone invites me over for a roast pork, (hint-hint) I'll go- but be prepared for a small admonition about the sentience of pigs, and why we shouldn't eat them. And then I'll dig in!
</diatribe>
My five hens (all Bovan) were rescued from a small egg-factory, and dammit, they won't stop laying- FIVE eggs a day! - That's 12+ dozen a month!
Anyhow, it's spring now. Perhaps I'll expand my flock. I wonder how these Bovans would like a rooster? (I miss the crow of my roosters from 25+ years ago) And what sort of offspring would they have?

Any special projects you want to finish or start this year?
Lol. All of them.
Idk. Still excited about lavender silver duckwing. I just want to get numbers up so I can have enough to pick from for a decent size group for next year.
Everything blue. Blue silver duckwing needs work. I have yet to hatch a male so hoping for one this year. Also want to expand to blue gold duckwing.
Idk beyond that at the moment. Lots of options so I need to take inventory and figure out priorities.
Also some behind the scene stuff I want to work on or update. Pens, watering system, incubator maybe a hatcher sometime etc.
Ideas always outpace time and funds.

Any chance you have a picture of what they look like?
No. I believe Miami posted a pic of a male once in this thread.
You could probably Google an OEGB in that color. Idk but seems they come in every variety known to man.
It would be a light brown leghorn with blue replacing the black.
Maybe search blue breasted red.
