The Moonshiner's Leghorns

I'd have taken it away. No qualms. Guess I'm a mean mom. 🤷‍♀️
Same. But other than my mom, its very rare that I let other people handle chicks they haven't paid for. Ive seen (as well as done it myself from accident) too many chicks just plummet because they werebt held securely.

I would have taken it away too. I don't let anyone near my chickens, and certainly not my chicks, unless I am there supervising, and making sure that person is careful and gentle.

I would have probably panicked too, but not from "why is he holding that chick" but from "omg he's going to kill a chick!" I try very hard to not be a helicopter mom, but yikes, that would have terrified me! Glad the story had a happy ending and everyone survived unscathed

But I can also appreciate that you let the kiddos be involved with the chickies. I think that's great.

When my son was very young, my BFF at the time hatched a few rounds of chicks. She would let the kids take turns holding a chick. I have a pic somewhere of my boy at 2 or 3 years sitting on the couch with a chick in his hands so gentle. Such a sweet moment and a great experience.
