Not entirely. I think in Old English Games, for instance, the color is very well established and set. Same with Crele Penedesencas, for example. In breeds where Crele hasn't been established, though, people just mix stuff until they get something that looks like a poor facsimile of Crele and say that's what it is when genetically, it's so far from Crele it isn't even funny. Googling images of Crele English Orpingtons makes me want to scream. Which is why I never wanted any.

I wish I knew why the Brahma varieties have such awful names I always have to google to make sure I even say type them correctly because they're just random combinations of 1-3 words at this point

lol Back in my day, there were only three colors; Light, Dark, and Buff. They must have really caught on in popularity in the last 20 years or so to have all the ones that you see now. I usually check Feathersite to see what varieties are available when I'm not sure. Barry Koffler seems to have his stuff mostly together. I'll be Moony could send him a lot of pictures.
