I think I am going to ask for a few Silver Duckwing chicks for my birthday. I think it will be the best way to eliminate autosomal red in the Silver Ginger Leghorns.

Hurry up and talk me out of it if it is a bad idea! lol

Never had any but I'm almost certain @Miami Leghorn had some from them.

Well nobody talked me out of it! I am impulsive and lack patience so once I hyperfixate on something, I go from thinking about it to hitting "submit order" in like 0.2 seconds. I need medicated is what it is.

I got 13 straight run Silver Duckwing Leghorns and 12 White Leghorns pullets for my husband and his friend to split. I got straight run in the SDWs because I really just need a couple of pullets, and I need as many roosters to pick through to pick the ones with the cleanest silver to keep to work on the Silver Ginger line.

Since I have ordered the SDW Leghorns, I may put the breaks on hatching any more eggs from the Silver Ginger rooster over the Brown Leghorn hen. I will just put the Silver Ginger rooster over a pullet and/or vice versa this fall/winter.

I just set my last clutch of eggs for the year. It was just a small clutch consisting of 6 Silver Ginger x Leghorn eggs and 6 Ameraucana eggs. They are due June 10th.

It was kind of a bargain, you see. I get to order some SDW chicks if I quit setting eggs. I was pretty much done hatching anyway, so I win.
