And I have some chickens that can rub brain cells together!

The Silver Ameraucana rooster from the compromised pen followed me an got in the pen they were put up in last night. He actually waited on me at the other pen until I called him over to the Crested EE pen and told him to get in. The I don't trust your pens guys that decided the trees were better got strayed out of the trees and went in the same pen. Took one straggler from the compromised pen and the others all followed me to the Crested EE project pen where they are staying. All in all, a one-night learning experience. Was very nice put up for those guys tonight.

Yes, while some chickens are very intelligent, others make me wonder if they have any cognitive capacity at all. Like literally some of them act like they barely have two neurons to make a synapse. But I think they can tell time. Because they know evening time is feeding time. lol

Anyone use brooder plates for chicks?
Thinking about it for the the first week when they're in my room.
Need to measure my box and see what size I could go with. Has me curious how many chicks can any certain size work for?
They'll be from 1 to 7 days old only.

I use a plate for mine, I have three different brands because some family friends gave me theirs when they got out of birds. I like the TSC Producers Pride one, it's for sure the easiest to clean out of the three when the little nuggets decide to explore on top of it.

Never had any but I'm almost certain @Miami Leghorn had some from them.

Yes, I did. They were healthy, strong and good breeders. But I always got random comments that they were on the tad small side. Lotta questions about them being bantams and such.
