He has nice type and his color is lovely. So it wouldn’t be mahagany since his hackle is still gold. More like extra autosomal red. Or some other red enhancer gene. I think the deeper red will look nice in the creles. I look forward to seeing them!It's probably not that simple.
And some of my projects aren't as simple as I usually let on either. I'm usually experimenting a little that I don't always show right away.
Here's the deal. For years I've toyed with males that are more of a red gold duckwing. I've always had them but this spring with all the reducing of adults I've done I found out I only had one left. He's the male in with the crele pullet right now.
If you look back through chick pics with browns you might catch the difference. They remind me of a brown leghorn chick compared to Welsummer chick.
Here's a bad partial pic of that rooster. You can see he's darker in gold tones then a brown would normally be.
