Good luck!Heat wave here again. Mid+ 90s for 3 more days. That and the next 2 days are usually my worst at work I'll be taking it easy.
Local farm store I've been getting layer feed at is having a $50 off any $200 purchase sale tomorrow.
They better still have $200 worth of layer feed by the time I get off work and get there.
I would if I had some Leghorn eggs to set. None of the pullets are laying yet. I keep checking daily for cherry red heads and nothing yet.So did you fire up the incubators 5 seconds after posting this???![]()
That's awesome and props for actually doing something useful with some drug home junk.To keep my mind busy from wanting to set eggs, we have been preoccupied with making my son a redneck pond out of a large metal drum looking thing my husband dragged home. I still have to add a pump and filtration but it is thriving and the nitrogen cycle has been on point. The goldfish have even been spawning. The pond is approximately 200 gallons. I got to get rid of the swampy aquarium out of my house and booted the goldfish outdoors. There are creek chubs, a tiny rock bass, and some bluegill fry in there now, and whatever else my son has managed to catch in his trap. We will eventually dig an in ground pond to transfer everything to but he is satisfied with his redneck pond for now.

This is one of my favorite things about keeping chickens-I can usually think of a chicken use for junk. I just made a nesting box for a couple new hens out of an old chair I found in the barn. It’s nice to have a fancy coop with curtains on the nesting boxes and a nice paint but it’s way more satisfying to spend $0 and make something out of junk that would otherwise go in a landfill.there's so much junk out there that needs to be saved and repurposed
