The Moonshiner's Leghorns

I have 2 pullets laying now 😁. Those 2 started laying at 4 months! 🙀. I’m about 2 weeks away from unloading my first batch of roosters. Hopefully when he comes, he will see the younger ones and take them too! 😬 Last year he came for 5 month old birds and brought small cages coz he was expecting much smaller birds.

You could always mention that you have the smaller ones if he wanted to save himself a trip for later.

Oh he knows I have them. He’s a stickler for them being at least 5 months and he doesn’t live very far away. My big boys just surprised him last year. I can dream. I’m ready to get down to my winter time numbers.

I’m ready to get down to my winter time numbers.
I feel like I'm already down to my winter time numbers.
I'm missing the old days but I have a feeling I may not be come the dead of winter when it's in the single digits and I'm toting water and breaking ice.

Got my layer pellets today. Bought one more bag then I needed to but when I walked out there was only two bags left in the store. $219 worth for $169. Today was a good day.
Next hatch goes into lockdown tomorrow then next set once those are hatched out and incubators cleaned.
Next chore school supplies. No fun there.

That's awesome and props for actually doing something useful with some drug home junk.
I've had to really cut out dragging any junk home but man there's so much junk out there that needs to be saved and repurposed. If only I had a few more lifetimes.
We are really big on repurposing things too. Once we are done with the pond the only money we will have in it will be a few pvc fittings and media for the filter, and the filter pump. Oh and I bought the plants. So probably less than $100. The pond is approximately 5 feet in diameter, about 2 feet in depth and holds around maybe 180-200 gallons of water. Plenty big enough for a few comet goldfish, minnows, and a few panfish. My son has really enjoyed the process. I am going to plant hostas around it next spring once I have more time and make it look nice. Once the filter is up and running the water will clear up. I look forward to doing a bigger in-ground pond. That will be fun. 🥰

My son already started school this past week. His school supply list packed a pretty good punch and was over $100. Then school clothes and a new pair of boots…
:th

You have an old boat that'll hold water?
I like this fish pond...

Yeah but my “peak season” numbers can’t compare to your “over winter” numbers.

Here’s the new king of the Island of Rhodes for next year.
